Title IV funds are awarded to a student under the assumption that the student will attend school for the entire period for which the assistance is awarded. When a student withdraws, the student may no longer be eligible for the full amount of Title IV funds that the student was originally scheduled to receive.

U.S. federal regulations (Satisfactory Academic Progress, 34 CFR 668.34) stipulate that students must maintain certain academic standards in order to remain eligible for Title IV Federal Student Aid funding.

 

The Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy applies to all students applying for Direct Loans under Title IV of the U.S. Higher Education Act. These types of loans include:

Direct Loans are a needs-based award; consequently, an assessment of the student’s financial need is based on information from the FAFSA, information from the student’s Spending Plan where all scholarships are disclosed and information from the institutional cost of attendance for the school year.

 

Student Finance: Entrance Academic

Transfer students completing their first four-year Bachelor’s degree may be eligible for an entrance academic award of $2,000.
