NEW SERVUS CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP
Burman University has announced that a new endowed scholarship agreement has been formed with Servus Credit Union. The Servus Credit Union Scholarship is designed to recognize Alberta resident students who have demonstrated academic achievement, community service, campus involvement, and program participation.
“We are delighted to announce this scholarship, which reflects a well-rounded student that contributes not only to their academic program but to the campus and community,” says Dr. Loren Agrey, President of Burman University. “Our Burman experience is committed to the “whole-person” approach and this scholarship is a way that we can show recognition to those students that reflect our mission to educate students to think with discernment, to believe with insight and commitment, and to act with confidence, compassion and competence.”
“Servus is pleased to support this scholarship at Burman University,” said Michael Dickinson, Director of Community and Media Engagement at Servus, adding that financial assistance is critical for some students to achieve their academic goals. “Education is vital to improving communities we serve across Alberta and helping support students who have chosen to attend post-secondary education is a way we can give back to those communities.”
The initial endowment principal of the scholarship is set at $50,000. The amount and number of scholarships awarded each year will be determined by the Burman University scholarship committee. “We are excited that Servus Credit Union has partnered with Burman University to advance the education of students in Central Alberta. We want to thank them for their generous contribution and their commitment to higher education,” says Diane Southcott, Director of Donor and Alumni Relations for Burman University.
