LMF Centre to Host Inaugural Symposium on Lifestyle Medicine and Flourishing

 

The LIFEstyle Medicine and Flourishing Centre (LMF Centre) at Burman University is excited to announce the 1st LIFEstyle Medicine & Flourishing Symposium from May 1-4, 2025. With the theme "Lifestyle Medicine and Flourishing: Moving from Evidence to Practice," this event will feature leading experts, interactive workshops, and dynamic discussions on whole-person health.

The symposium will include expert panels and practical sessions covering lifestyle medicine principles such as plant-based nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and fostering positive relationships. Participants will also experience the Blue Zones Rest Day, emphasizing the role of spirituality and purpose in well-being.

About the Keynote Speaker
Dr. John Kelly, a trailblazer in Lifestyle Medicine, is the founding president of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. With extensive experience in preventive medicine, epidemiology, and clinical research, Dr. Kelly has pioneered the integration of therapeutic lifestyle interventions to treat chronic diseases. His keynote sessions will explore topics such as "Mind-Body Connections: Lifestyle Medicine and Neuroplasticity" and "I Have a (Lifestyle Medicine) Dream."

"The purpose of the 1st Lifestyle Medicine and Flourishing Symposium at Burman University is to bring together pioneers in the field of Lifestyle Medicine from North America. We desire to educate and empower clinicians in Canada to embrace the evidence-based power of lifestyle medicine to address the increasing tide of chronic disease burden in Alberta and all across Canada. This will move Lifestyle Medicine in Canada from evidence to practice," says Dr. Pekka Määttänen, Associate Professor and Chair of Biology at Burman University and one of the founders of the LMF Centre.
