Burman Business Students Shine at HYVE Entrepreneurial Conference

Four Burman students participated in the HYVE Conference, a gathering of Adventist entrepreneurs and innovators focused on advancing God's work through missional business. As part of the event, two student teams joined the pitch competition, presenting their business plans to a panel of judges.

David Kapiniak, a fourth-year Business Accounting track major, and Sam Brewster, a fourth-year Business Management Track Major, presented Fortify Storage, a storage facility project with a heavy focus on more security than its competitors. Thirsa Ward, a second-year Business Administration major, and Elena Kolokolova, a third-year Business Management Track Major, introduced Breve, an AI-powered app designed for coffee shops. Each team had four minutes to pitch their idea and four minutes to respond to questions from the judges. Although Sam could not attend due to a prior commitment, David presented the project. He earned the team second place along with a two thousand dollar prize. Judges praised his preparation and commented that he is ready to pursue an MBA.

Both teams worked hard in the weeks leading up to the event. They continued refining their presentations while at the conference. Their faculty coach, Danae Brousson, provided guidance throughout the process.
