Campus Security
Emergency Management
Emergencies can happen at any time with little or no warning. Being prepared to deal with emergencies when they arise is important for everyone. Knowing what is expected of you in any emergency can help minimize its effects on yourself and those around you.
As part of the Universities campus safety plan, Burman University provides the campus community with free access to Campus alert, our emergency notification system. We want to be able to contact you in the event of an emergency and let you know what you can do to help and stay safe. You don't need to get information second hand anymore! This system has the ability to contact you through phone, email and text, as well as a pop up screen on campus computers. There will also be a Giant voice system that will broadcast the message over the campus center. We need your help to make the system work. Please ensure all contact information on CAMS student portal is accurate and up to date. If you are unsure how to access this information, contact Student Services and they will help. For employees, send an email to security@burmanu.ca with your current information and we will ensure it is in the system. |

When dealing with any emergency, it is necessary to stay calm and project that calm to the others around you. Taking a few seconds to organize your thoughts and processing the information you are facing can stop you from acting in a way that may not benefit yourself, or the others that depend on your actions. Reviewing this guide be-fore an emergency takes place could be the difference between a positive or negative outcome.
If there are any questions or concerns with the information presented in this guide, or if you are looking for assistance or guidance for an emergency that is not covered in this guide, please call (403) 782-3381, x4135.
