How to Apply - US Federal Loan
If you are planning to access US financial aid, you must follow the steps below every academic year.
Step 1 – US Department of Education requirements

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) ( https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa) You will need to list Burman University (school code: G33354) on your FAFSA. Be sure to keep a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR).

Entrance Counselling (https://studentloans.gov/mydirectloan.index.action) This is required for all students who are accessing a US Federal loans for the first time at Burman University.

Stafford and/or PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN) (https://studentloans.gov/mydirectloan/index.action) Every year you must complete the appropriate MPN before loans are processed. If your parent has chosen a PLUS loan, your parent will need to complete a Parent PLUS loan MPN.
Step 2 – Burman requirements

Contact Student Financial Services and request a US student Spending Plan that includes a possible US student loan.

Email your signed Spending Plan to SFS@burmanu.ca or fax to 403/782-4107.

Inform Student Financial Services once you have completed Step 1.
Step 3
Once Burman’s Student Financial Services Office has received all your documents, we will assess your application.
When our assessment is complete, you will be notified. We will either request additional information or we will provide you with a US Loan Award Letter.
You will need to review the letter, request loan amount; initial and return.
Please Note:
Funds are not disbursed before classes start. This means Burman students cannot use their loan funds to pay their $2,150 deposit.
